The Singapore Retrospective, Part II

April 27th, 2009

So, the food in Singapore: where do I start? Singapore likes to call itself “the food capital of Asia.” I guess that’s because of the diverse options available. I tried Indian (excellent), Thai (ok), and Singaporean (weird). The food takes some getting used to, and while I didn’t starve or anything, I was definitely ready to come back (I had more than enough things with rice during my stay). The hotel was surrounded by familiar places: Starbucks, BK, McDonalds, Hard Rock Café and a couple of the hotel restaurants had pastas and sandwiches too. I didn’t go all the way to Singapore to eat at the Hard Rock though, and while I’m a bit of a picky eater, I tried to experience the local cuisine.

Overpronation Is The Worst!

April 19th, 2009

I ran nine miles today (a new longest run).

Rackin' Up The Miles

Rackin' Up The Miles

I had to break down and buy a new pair of shoes on Thursday. I had about 140 miles on my Nike Triax but once they started to wear down they gave me horrible blisters right in the arches of both feet. I went to Running Spot (where I bought the Nikes) and they said that I was the third person to come in with the same problem. I bought these Asics that the sales guy said were the “gold standard” of these types of running shoes. Sadly, this information could have helped me THE LAST TIME I BOUGHT SHOES.

The Singapore Retrospective, Part I

April 14th, 2009
Sorry about the delay in getting this post up. Last week was crazy – trying to catch up on work and school while getting ready for Easter and overcoming jet lag. Plus I’ve gotten so many questions about the trip that I felt like I said everything to everyone already. However there are probably a few people I haven’t talked to yet (Hi Seapiners!) so without further ado, I give you THE SINGAPORE RETROSPECTIVE.

Week 18/19/20/Whatever Nobody Cares

April 4th, 2009

Week 18 was a light week and then I left for Singapore, so once again, I am behind in my training. I will attempt to go 7-8 miles tomorrow on the nice and flat Loveland bike trail.

Detailed post(s) are coming about the Singapore trip, but it may take a few days to write. I sort of forgot that I have a nine page paper to write for Tuesday’s class on Global Strategic Thinking. I haven’t even read the case study yet. Whoopsie doodle. I meant to start it on the plane ride back but I was just so exhausted I didn’t do much more than vacantly stare at the seat in front of me. Here are some pictures – a few more are coming.
