I’m working on a couple of hats for my sister, and thought I’d share some pictures of one of them. I used to keep a blog just for knitting/crocheting projects, but I’m so slow that the site only got updated a few times a year and eventually I lost interest in it and gave up.
Pattern: Brioche Hat, Weekend Knitting Link
Yarn: Cascades 128 Super Wash, Colors 817 and 863 Link (BTW, I’ve never bought yarn before that didn’t have names for the colors. Weird.)
Hardware: Size 6 and size 8 circular needles, size 8 dpn’s

UPDATE: Finished hat + bonus second hat pictures have been added below.
I bought the yarn from Yarn Garden in Portland, OR. There are so many yarn shops in that city! It’s much harder to find good quality yarn here in Cincinnati. The cast-on below is “Two-Strand Tubular Cast-On” and I couldn’t quite figure out the directions even after staring at them for 30 minutes, but I got it right in my 3rd attempt.
As mentioned above, this is the 3rd iteration. The first two were ripped out and started over because the stripe pattern wasn’t coming out right. I’d explain about my troubles with the yarn overs, but really, I’m not sure anyone who reads this thing knows anything about knitting (or cares). It’s looking good now though, and I like the reversible effect of the pattern – one side shows more cream while the other is more brown.
I started it on Friday, but after the 2 failed attempts the final correct version was started Saturday. Right now I’m a little less than halfway done. More pictures coming as I finish the hat (hopefully by tomorrow since I have Monday off from work).

the brown one reminds me of a hoho..mmm..
Mmm I haven’t had a Ho Ho in years! But yeah…. I don’t know how I feel about the brown one. If I did it again I’d make it smaller and without a brim. Ah well. It was a new pattern so it was a learning experience anyway. The purple turned out well though.
